Beach House

Dubai (UAE)

2008

Completed / Interior Design / RefurbishmentArea - 800m²

The pared-down interior design of this open plan home in Dubai makes the most of the ideal location overlooking Jumeirah Beach.

The house showcases a mix of iconic design classics, and furniture and lighting designed by AKK Architects which re-interpret Middle Eastern design motifs with a unique, contemporary twist.

The ground floor of the beach house is lined with floor-to-ceiling windows which span the entire width of the house with expansive views. Three separate seating areas are unified by a sand-colored carpet stretching throughout, creating a very sociable layout.

Richard Schultz’s timeless outdoor dining table and chairs from 1966 help create an inside/outside feel to the space, and in the central salon, yellow Facett armchairs by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and a Tulip table by Aero Saarinen from Knoll face stunning views of the sea.

AKK Architects' contemporary Arabic furniture including mirrored Diamond Tables, Mezz Trays, Marrakech Seats, and Splashing and Stocking lights by CAI Light complement these classic design pieces.

Traditional, hand-stitched Lebanese bed mattresses, and lace fabrics stretched across wooden frames on windows create a relaxed and informal lounge area.

A touch of art is introduced in the bedroom where curtains are hand painted using a silkscreen technique by the French artist, Dominique Fury.
