This corporate headquarters consists of a large, open-plan office overlooking the runways of Dubai airport. Transparency is key to the design, and the irregular but geometric space has been divided up to create wide-angle views, accentuate perspective and take advantage of natural daylight.
High, Sealed & Coupled (HSC), is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tubing and casing for the oil and gas industry.
Following AKK’s successful factory project in Szechuan Province, China, the practice was commissioned to design its new corporate headquarters in Dubai’s Airport Free Zone.
The interiors include an array of different materials and textures, ranging from hard linoleum floors to soft carpeting and wool-upholstered walls.
Glass walls and vertical surfaces are clad with custom-designed gold modules made from aluminum by CAI Light which illuminate and animate the corridors.
Standard, fluorescent ceiling lights have been given a twist, and Stocking lights finished with handmade crochet by CAI Light add a homey dimension to the corporate space.
Carefully chosen design classics like Kartell’s Mademoiselle Chair, an Eames lounger and Le Corbusier sofa by Vitra mix with customized furniture like AKK Architects' Marrakech seats to add elements of surprise in different corners.
