Concept Design / Architecture / LandscapingArea - 75,000m²
The proposal for the Red Factory measured 216m wide and 306m long, and was designed to sit on a massive site spanning 226,000m2 in Szechuan province, China.
The design for this factory site plan was inspired by the traditional characteristics, layout and symmetry of a Chinese temple.
The architectural program encompassed two adjacent workshops, an auditorium, and a canteen, as well as an area reserved for future expansion.
The cantilevered roof was inspired by stratified temple roofs with an origami fold which would allow for air flow and sunlight. The roof was designed to sit on the structural framing which divides the workshops into equal symmetrical modules.
